Learn to ride and get licensed!

Welcome to Pacific Motorcycle Training, the top school to learn how to ride a motorcycle safely in the Monterey area. During our classes, you will learn everything you need to know to ride and control your motorcycle safely. Whether you are interested in learning the basics of riding a motorcycle—and getting your license endorsement—or simply improving your motorcycle skills to be safer on the road, come with us and we will provide you with the best classes you can get in the Monterey Area. We are part of the California Motorcyclist Safety Program and all of our instructors are certified to teach the Total Control riding courses.

Convenient on-line classroom

The classroom portion consists of a six-hour course called eRider that can be done at your convenience and in the comfort of your home. It is highly interactive, using video and other features to address risk management, riding strategy, roadway management, impairments, and special riding situations like carrying passengers and group riding. Participants complete all classroom activities (6 chapters) before their first in-person motorcycle riding session. The motorcycle riding portion of the course consists of 10 hours of in-person instruction on gas powered motorcycles. The 10-hours of riding instruction takes place over two days and builds fundamental street-riding skills and strategies.

The eRider is a great option for busy students who are successful at learning in an individualized, self-paced environment. Please check our eRider FAQs page for eRider system requirements.

We welcome all Salinas residents as well as future riders from neighboring towns such as Monterey, Watsonville, Santa Cruz, Carmel, Hollister and Gilroy. Come learn how to ride a motorcycle and have fun with us!

"Good class. Good instructors. A couple new techniques were learned, break ng and speed shifting. Reenforced advanced riding principles."

"I had a great experience with Pacific Motorcycle Training. The online course was fun and easy to follow while also being very informative. It changed my opinion on a few items. The in-person training was so much fun - even though it rained a bit 😃. The instructors were friendly and knowledgeable and the course was set up well. I plan to take the intermediate and advanced classes next."
- Dan Waters, November 2025
"I had an amazing experience on my riding class with PMT. Amazing instructors that were great at explaining and teaching me skills and had a positive attitude in a class room setting that made me feel comfortable and safe to learn. I would definitely recommend this training course to anyone, Thanks Jacob, Chris, and Isaac!"

"I’m still in shock. I was actually able to ride a motorcycle and (!!) it was fun. It was my first time on a bike and first time using a clutch. The course breaks the drills down to baby steps that build on each other. I felt uneasy the majority of the first day but never unsafe. Chris and Dylan deserve all your money if you want to learn to ride. They are excellent coaches who balance constructive criticism and encouragement. Every bit of coaching made me feel safer and more confident on the bike..."
- Erica Rayworth, February 2025
"I signed up to this class wanting to overcome past trauma and full filling a life long desire. Walking in with sweating palms, a shaky gate and even fogging up the shield on the helmet I thought everyone could notice the anxiety that was clearly evident. It was my very first time being in control of a motorcycle- there was no need for me to tell the instructors- they already knew. They began to build up my confidence little by little and as the day progressed my body felt more and more at ease..."
- M. Pia Guerra, June 2025
"I got the Total Control book by Lee Parks when I registered and read it before attending the class. I had started to adopt some of the new riding techniques before the course and recommend doing so if possible. The course followed the book with a short classroom overview of each technique and then repeated riding opportunities with coaching after trying out each new technique. The course instructors were all very professional and highly skilled riders that knew their stuff..."

"Really cool staff, very knowledgeable (Maya, Tommy, George and Chris are all excellent instructors! ) Had a good time and learned a lot plus gained confidence in my riding. Will be signing up for that track day soon on my new Mt 09 :)"
