Learn to ride and get licensed!

Welcome to Pacific Motorcycle Training, the top school to learn how to ride a motorcycle safely in the Monterey area. During our classes, you will learn everything you need to know to ride and control your motorcycle safely. Whether you are interested in learning the basics of riding a motorcycle—and getting your license endorsement—or simply improving your motorcycle skills to be safer on the road, come with us and we will provide you with the best classes you can get in the Monterey Area. We are part of the California Motorcyclist Safety Program and all of our instructors are certified to teach the Total Control riding courses.

Convenient on-line classroom

The classroom portion consists of a six-hour course called eRider that can be done at your convenience and in the comfort of your home. It is highly interactive, using video and other features to address risk management, riding strategy, roadway management, impairments, and special riding situations like carrying passengers and group riding. Participants complete all classroom activities (6 chapters) before their first in-person motorcycle riding session. The motorcycle riding portion of the course consists of 10 hours of in-person instruction on gas powered motorcycles. The 10-hours of riding instruction takes place over two days and builds fundamental street-riding skills and strategies.

The eRider is a great option for busy students who are successful at learning in an individualized, self-paced environment. Please check our eRider FAQs page for eRider system requirements.

We welcome all Salinas residents as well as future riders from neighboring towns such as Monterey, Watsonville, Santa Cruz, Carmel, Hollister and Gilroy. Come learn how to ride a motorcycle and have fun with us!

"The Beginner course is great! A lot of good safety and basic motorcycle operating procedures covered in the theory classes. PMT provides bikes for people who don't own one yet to practice with. The instructors on the course are very helpful and provide continuous feedback to correct riding posture and other nuances. I would definitely recommend taking this course for people who aren't comfortable or used to riding a motorcycle."

"Took the class from Evie who was, by far, the most professional and knowledgeable instructor I’ve ever had. She’s an excellent communicator and very patient with new riders. My 17yo daughter also took the class and Evie had her riding safely in no time. We are very fortunate to have taken this fantastic course and will be safer riders thanks to Evie."
― JAFB
"Marcus and Earl were top-notch instructors that gave a great experience for riders wanting to up their skill. I highly recommend this outfit."
― Daniel Cordrey
"Every one of the instructors were clear, concise, and patient. Couldn’t recommend this course enough for anyone a little worried about starting off their motorcycle journey. They go over the basics of the bike, safety maneuvers and the importance of counter steering. Show up open minded and ready to mess up often."
― Daniel Sandoval
"Great Place to Start Your Motorcycle Journey. The instructors create a positive learning atmosphere and help you improve your bike handling techniques. I'll be taking their intermediate/ advanced classes later. Chris, Isaak and Ken were great teachers."
― Ross Sherwood
"Fantastic, I would highly recommend anybody who is contemplating riding or, is riding a motorcycle to attend. The course work and instructors have given me the basic tools required to learn how to ride a motorcycle correctly as well as of course, a taster of how much fun riding a motorcycle can be."
― Andrew Phillis
"Great course even if you have zero riding experience like me. Instructor Dillon struck a great balance between enthusiastic coaching, professional approach and having a good time. Lots of time actually riding and learning to handle the bike. You can bring your own bike if you check with the office first. My partner (who already rides) took this class with me and thought it was a significantly better class than other CSMP courses he has attended in the area. Very fun, highly informative, super recommend it as a way to try out riding and gain handling skills."
